RNID

The RNID publish a 'Start to Sign' book that is used by people who attend British Sign Language courses.

But they realised that an interactive reference tool would greatly enhance people's learning experience.

We created a CD-ROM to be sold with the 'Start to Sign' book as a package, or a s a product in its own right. The reference book was (and is still) very successful but it was felt that an additional CD ROM would provide a useful interactive library of British Sign Language words and finger spelling. With clearer animated pictures of signs it would also serve as an exceptionally effective learning tool.

We designed the CD with a front-end interface chosen from several initial design concepts. The easy to use navigation included links to animated finger spelling and the British Sign Language Video Library. The CD also contained a quiz based on the video clips and fully searchable index. It is now available in stores across the UK, retailing at £19.99.
