Let's face it students love naff TV, so with the Eurovision upon us it made perfect sense to use this as the platform for a viral campaign, promoting National Express Euroline destinations.
We developed an online Flash game 'Euro Dance-off 2002'. Each level took place in a different city, with the player competing against the local champion. The game would show the location's most famous landmarks, a parked Euroline coach full of supporters and signposts highlighting destinations and prices eg 'Brussels £36'. Emails, containing links to the game were sent to the existing student customer database. And to encourage the viral element, players were asked to forward on the email in order to gain entry into a free prize draw, with first prize being a year's free travel to any European destination.
